'All We Need Is Love' Unites Global Voices for National Suicide Prevention Month

The music project brings artists and communities together to promote compassion, remembrance, mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

Proceeds from digital downloads of the song will benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, supporting its work in prevention, education, advocacy, research and resources for people, families and communities affected by suicide. Observed each September, National Suicide Prevention Month creates space to discuss mental health, remember lives lost to suicide and reduce stigma. The month includes 988 Day on September 8, which raises awareness of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, and World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10, a global call for compassionate conversation.

Music has long offered a way to express what words alone cannot, providing comfort and helping people feel less alone. “Every person involved in this project shares the belief that love and human connection can make a meaningful difference,” the project’s creative team said. “If this song encourages one person to start a conversation, seek support or reach out to someone who may be struggling, then its message has served an important purpose.”

The music video reflects that message through imagery of hope, compassion and diversity, featuring people from communities around the world. Emmy Award-winning anchor and producer Tamani Wooley makes a special appearance, and the video includes the widely shared sidewalk embrace between toddler best friends Maxwell Hanson and Finnegan McKenna — originally filmed in New York City by Maxwell’s father, Michael Cisneros — which became a global symbol of friendship, acceptance and unconditional love. Within the video, the moment is a quiet reminder that compassion does not always require a sweeping gesture.

The project was years in the making. Conceived by a collective of artists, industry professionals and community advocates who believed music could open conversations and highlight what people share, it was placed on hold following the untimely passing of executive producer Jared Hancock of Surefire Music Group, whose creativity and vision shaped it from its earliest stages. The creative team later reunited to complete the work, share it with audiences worldwide and honor Hancock’s legacy.
